Here comes the Milwaukee Express!

We love a new wooden toy. This train is inspired by the streamliners of the American 40's that traveled between Chicago and Minneapolis. It's hand made from walnut, birch and pine. Now you can let your imagination run wild and create your own itinerary. All aboard!

Modern Toy Wood Cars

We saw these on Design Therapy and loved them. Hand made by Patrick Weder in Brooklyn, we like the natural wood finish and abstract design. They will look great in the living room. You will still trip over them. You just won't curse as loudly.

Holiday Gift Ideas

It's gift giving season. And here are some of our favorite gift ideas.

We like the bold colors and wooden toys from Playsam. They also have a new line that is called
Playforever. The airplane or rocket would even look good on Dad's desk. You can purchase them through us.

There are some great new books out there. Of course we love The Orange Book. It tells you where the oranges on a tree end up. You can purchase it at DWR. Check out all their books. Another favorite is a book by artist Michael Robert's called Snowman in Africa. You can buy it on the Gucci website, and all the proceeds go to UNICEF. Gifting and giving at the same time, a great idea.

Lego has come out with some fantastic new designs. Our favorite is the Taj Mahal. Amazing. You are guaranteed to lose some pieces! But they also have some smaller
buildings like the John Hancock Tower from Chicago and the Empire State Building, or the Guggenheim and Falling Water.

Check out these super cool wooden blocks. With roots in 60's pop culture and inspired by Sgt. Pepper, these blocks encourage endless creativity. The website has lots of other cool stuff for kids too, like a kooky Caterpillar backpack. Fun stuff.

We love the quilts from Haptic Lab with maps of neighborhoods or city grids. And they can do custom work as well. The website showcases all the work she does including some installations. Our favorite is the mini quilt that you could also hang on the wall as art.

And speaking of art, we also have New Editions artwork at our showroom for sale. Already framed and ready to go.
They will make a nice edition to a child's room or nursery.

Happy Gifting!

Removable Numbers

These numbers caught our eye at Modern Family at Dwell on Design. They have a great graphic quality in bright colors. And the best part is they are removable, so you can put them on furniture or the wall and move them when you get inspired. For a good time call? 8675309? Probably not appropriate, but we bet you can come up with some clever ideas.

Custom M&M's

We love to put our mark on things. And were happy to know that the people who own M&M feel the same way. Now you can customize your M&Ms with colors, letters, and images. Perfect for the kids birthday parties or for gifts. Or just sitting around the house in candy dishes ready to be snacked on.

Charles and Ray Eames Elephant for kids!

We were walking past the Vitra store the other night and saw this adorable elephant in the window.  Turns out it is by Charles and Ray Eames, who actually got their start in children's furniture, and comes in 5 different colors.  It can be used outside too.  Fun for the kids and looks good in the yard too!

Books Of Wonder

What to give? What to get? Books of Wonder in Chelsea will help you with this holiday question.  They have all the classic children's titles from your childhood (ahem, which wasn't that long ago! wink wink) and new titles that will become classics. They also have an entire section on the Wizard of Oz, and readings by authors and store events.  Plan a trip to the shop or order on line!
Happy Shopping!
